A comprehensive training program has been conducted at The Maurya for 19 handpicked F&B professionals from across the ITC Hotels chain
As the most detailed wine training program ever to be carried out in India concludes, the program organiser and Beverage Manager - Wines at ITC Hotels Mr. Niladri Dhar shares his experience with Wineindia.in
In the 45 day course, trainees learned about each of the major wine regions of the world in terms of their growing conditions, styles and types of wine produced, methods of production, local wine laws, commercial significance of wines from particular wine regions, among many other interesting topics.
"We managed to sample 160 different wines on our way. I also trained them on sommelier skills as well as exposing them to the finer details of viticulture and wine-making. All this is aimed at creating a strong wine culture in our hotels", he adds.
This training is a part of the broader wine program initiated a couple of months ago and the enormity and focus of it speaks volume of the increasing stature of wine, at least in the hospitality sector. He is hoping for this trend to continue throughout the country.
He is also planning to design a brand new wine list for the group and WineIndia wishes all success to him.
